Delicious!

How are you celebrating National Oatmeal Day?

Beans, Beans, The Magical Fruit

28 Oct

I really hope the rest of the childhood chant doesn’t apply to me tonight because I had red beans and rice for dinner:

I’ve started this bad habit of inhaling half my veggies before I remember to take a picture. That plate was full of broccoli and carrots before I attacked it.

Speaking of plates, am I the only one whose eating is really affected by plate size? I feel like my plate should be full and I should finish it. Silly American idealism. Thus, I overeat. Best and easiest solution to that problem? A smaller plate! For reference, the plate in that photo is the size of a standard salad plate, instead of a dinner plate.

I ran tonight. Against my will. It was slow and crappy. I ran down a side street a few streets down, and I was amazed at some of the houses. They were gorgeous! I’d love to live back there.

I’m a little sore, so I’m popping some Aleve and calling it a night! G’night y’all 🙂

ETA: Caitlin at Healthy Tipping Point posted this great blog about Intuitive Eating this morning. She has some great tips along with what I said about smaller plates 🙂

Corn Chowda’

27 Oct

Good morning! There’s no better way to start the day than with a delicious breakfast:

Chopped Fuji apple, fat free vanillla yogurt & Multi-grain Cheerios. I also had a large coffee with some Aria chocolate protein powder mixed in. I’ve really begun to like adding protein powder to my coffee. Now I can get my day going. It’s going to be a busy one because we’re a little short-staffed today.

Last night, I decided to listen to my body’s exhausted cries and just relax. I went to the grocery store and made some rice krispy treats.

I may or may not have eaten more than one… They were just so delicious! I completely and utterly lack self-control.

Later, I watched The Proposal. The movie was really cute, although completely and utterly predictable. I’m a sucker for Ryan Reynolds, so I liked it. If you’re looking for a light-hearted romantic comedy, its a good bet. There were quite a few laughs throughout.

Dinner was my mom’s corn chowder and wasa crisps:

I love Wasas, but those were stale and tasted like cardboard 😦 I promptly threw them in the trash.

I can hardly believe October is almost over! Today at lunch, I’m going to 1st Place Sports to sign up for my half-marathon. Ahh! I think actually signing up for the race and paying the fee will force me to finish the training. I could use a kick in the pants at this point. Training gets very wearing at times. Only a month left!

Although its muggy and icky outside today, I’m trying to remain optimistic about running this evening. I really need to get a gym membership again so on days like this I can sweat it out on the treadmill instead. I just do not perform well in high-humidity. I am not a fan of torture.

Have a terrific Tuesday!

Motivation Needed

26 Oct

I could use a little motivation to run tonight after the long, hard weekend. I feel like I hardly got any rest at all!

*sigh*

I Am Not Driving A Uhaul On I-95!

24 Oct

Goodness gracious, it has been the LONGEST day! Today we, along with the hubby’s parents, moved the rest of our stuff out of our apartment in Melbourne. Unfortunately, we got started about two hours late due to a family emergency.

My mother-in-law’s 14 year-old weimareiner, Beau, started having seizures as we were getting ready this morning. We took him to the emergency vet, and they stabilized and kept him for observation. Beau has been plagued with health problems for quite awhile now, and it’s looking like we are going to have to put him down soon. 😦

We still managed to get down to Melbourne and get things packed into the truck. I refused to drive the Uhaul down I-95. I’m a wimp.

I decided to keep it klassy tonight and bring my miller lite into the bathtub with me:

Don’t judge me. It’s been one helluva day!

Amazing Grass Review

23 Oct

I tried the Amazing Grass Chocolate Super Food yesterday afternoon in case you didn’t see my previous post.

Well… I hate to say it, but I was not a fan. At all. I mixed it with 1oz. of water before mixing it with milk, just like the packet said. I stirred it up, and took a big gulp.

Yuck.

I chugged the rest, and honestly contemplated plugging my nose. Maybe it tastes better in a smoothie. I’m going to try that next time.

I was also disappointed that I didn’t feel any extra energy. If anything, I felt more sluggish than usual. My short 2-mile run last night was pathetic. I trudged along and considered quitting several times. To be honest, my last long run was easier than last night’s short run! Crazyness.

I don’t know about anyone else, but I am so ready for the weekend!

Au revoir!

Ew. Just Ew.

22 Oct

Quick update: Amazing Grass was pretty gross. Not gonna lie. More later.

Diet Coke Daze

22 Oct

Breakfast is my favorite meal of the day. Whether it’s pancakes and bacon or bagels or omelettes or sausage and biscuits and gravy… I love it. I’m a big fan of breakfast.

Unfortunately, I can’t eat breakfast like that every day. Recently, I’ve discovered overnight oats, thanks to Jenna at Eat, Live, Run. This morning, I had 1/2 c. oatmeal soaked in skim milk and chocolate protein powder.

I may or may not have added a splenda or two. Either way, this is a new favorite of mine!

On a typical day, I eat breakfast around 10 am. For shame, I know. But I drink my coffee as soon as I get to work, and I eat when I’m hungry around 10. Sometimes I eat earlier, sometimes I eat later.

Lunch time is usually around 1. Like breakfast, sometimes its earlier, sometimes its later. Today lunch consisted of some leftover fried rice and an egg roll.

I’m awful, I know. And yes, that’s a diet coke in the background. DON’T JUDGE ME! I also snacked on some unpictured hummus, carrots and pretzels.

This afternoon, I’m trying some Amazing Grass Chocolate Green Superfood mix. I need a kick in the rear to get motivated for my run tonight, and I hope this gets the job done! I shall be posting a full-lenegth review later today or early tomorrow.

And last but not least, I’m a little anxious for the FSU game tonight. I’ve declared my love for FSU more than once on this blog, but this season has made me a Nervous Nellie.  I think a little eye candy to make me feel better is in order:

Mmm. I love me some Christian Ponder.

So… What do you think? Will it be FSU or UNC? Or do you have a different game or event that you’re excited for this weekend?

Welcome!
