New Mile PR!

21 Oct

Tonight was just one of those nights where everything clicked. It was great. It was one of those runs that reminds you why you run and reinvigorates you.

I ran 4 miles after work. The first two miles were leisurely. Then, I picked up the pace…. A lot. Let’s take a look at my splits:
11:47
11:37
10:57
9:48

Yep, that’s right. I ran my last mile in 9:48!! That’s a new PR for me! And that’s super fast for these short little legs. I’m so proud of myself 🙂

Afterwards, I indulged in a little chicken fried rice that my mom made:

Worth every bite.

I’m off to finish watching The Biggest Loser and get some sleep.

Gooooood night!!

Monday Night Yoga

20 Oct

Last night I was feeling rather restless. I didn’t go for a run because I ran 9 on Sunday, so I decided to do a little yoga. I downloaded and podcast on my iPhone and went to it. I’m so glad I did! I did about 20 minutes of gentle, pre-bed yoga. It really helped me stretch out my tense legs. Totally worth the time and effort!

The weather has been so nice lately. It actually feels a little like fall here in Florida. Tonight, I plan on trying to get in 4 leisurely miles. Maybe, just maybe, I’ll do some speedwork this week!

Hope everyone has a great day!

Grrr

19 Oct

I had a whole post typed up, and my phone freaked out. I lost it. So frustrating. Guess I’ll start from the top.

I ran 9 miles this morning! I can’t believe I did it. It was extremely satisfying. Lately i’ve been struggling on my long runs, and they haven’t exactly been confidence builders. Today was a completely different story (Thank God).

We did a .75 mile cooldown, thus covering 9.75 for the day. I ran negative splits for the most part. I’m really pleased.

Before the run, I ate a sliced banana and a super food bar from Amazing Grass:

I’m a freak and I like reallllly ripe bananas. Spotty and brown? Yes, please!

Time for this girl to snuggle up on the couch, watch Desperate Housewives, and eat a cupcake:

Hop everyone had a great weekend!

Super Tired

14 Oct

Boy am I tired tonight! *yawn*

The weather was pretty overcast and a little cooler today, so I seized the opportunity and ran. I felt relaxed and had a nice 3 mile run. Fastest 3 miles I’ve had in about a month! I’m quite pleased.

I’m feeling a little anxious about this weekend’s 9 miles. I’m hoping the cold front will make it much more tolerable.

Alright. I’m exhausted. But I came across this and couldn’t resist posting him:

Yum!

Sweet dreams to all!

Surrounded!

13 Oct

Good evening!

I just want to pimp the awesome BlogPress app on the iPhone for a moment. It’s made it so much easier to keep things up to date! Love it! I just wish it were easier to insert links into my posts instead of good ‘ol fashioned HTML.

I started off my evening with an easy 3 mile run. It was brutally hot and humid. Surprise, surprise. I’m complaining about the weather again! Afterwards, I made some yummy pumpkin cake:

-1 box Jiffy yellow cake mix
-1 egg
-2 tbsp pumpkin pie seasoning
-1/2 c. Canned pumpkin
-1/2 c. Water

Mix it all up and bake on 350 for 35-40 minutes.

At one point during the evening, not one, not two, but all three of the dachshunds in this house decided my lap was a perfect place for a nap:

And some sweet close-ups…

Meet Kayne:

And the love of his life, Lucie:

And Jill:

Yes. They’re ridiculous. But I love them.

Time for bed! I’m exhausted and could use some quality sleep.

Goodnight!

Brats With The Miller High Life Boiled In

11 Oct

Whew! What a weekend! Friday after work, I headed out for what was supposed to be a 4 mile run. Umm… It started POURING a mile in despite weather.com’s prediction of 20% chance of precipitation. At first, the rain felt like a refreshing change from the boiling heat of late. But then, about 10 minutes later, the rain stopped and the humidity took over. Holy humidity. Oh my goodness. So needless to say, I did run/ walk intervals back to the house because I just couldn’t take it.

Eventually, hubby showed up from Melbourne and we went to Chilis for dinner. We love any place that serves 2-4-1 all day. I sipped on the house Cabernet and munched on a delicious quesadilla explosion salad:

Yesterday, we spent the day helping hubby’s parents in the yard. I got so messy laying sod and it was a great workout.

My father-in-law’s birthday was last week, so we celebrated by cooking out and watching some college football. My contribution? Brie and crackers. You know, cause Brie and crackers go hand in hand with cookouts.

What can I say? I was craving Brie.

And you can’t have a cookout without beer:

Our brew of the night, Shiner Bock from the little town of Shiner, Tx. If you haven’t tried it, I highly suggest it. It’s a darker beer with a really smooth taste. Mmm mmm!

Last night marked hubby’s first official time to man the grill single-handedly for a family event. Okay, okay, I helped (just a tad):

And of course, Cosmo stood by praying we’d drop something:

Unfortunately for him, everything made it safely from the grill to the table.

We spent the rest of the evening watching Florida struggle against LSU. It was nice to see them challenged and not trouncing all over the competition. I’m surrounded by Gators. I have to say nice things every once in awhile. It does go against every fiber of my being when I’m stuck in a room with them and they’re all yelling “Go Gators!”. Yuck. I bleed garnet and gold!

Speaking of garnet and gold, FSU sadly lost to Georgia Tech last night. I love FSU. I am a true fan through thick and thin. But seriously, our defense sucks and it has for a few years. Does Bobby Bowden need to go? Yes. But so does Mickey Andrews. The Bobby era is over and he needs to exit gracefully.

Poor Christian Ponder. First decent QB we get in years and he’s stuck with a shitty defense. He’s scoring the points but the defense isn’t blocking anything.

Okay, enough football. Time for coffee and breakfast! Have a great Sunday, y’all!

PS – we’re going to look at houses today. More details later!

Hi-ho, Hi-ho Back to Work I Go

8 Oct

Well I’m back at the office today after being out with the flu for two days. I’m finally feeling human again, thanks to the following:
A venti zen tea

And an itty-bitty frosty

No kidding, that frosty was only slighty bigger than a shot glass. It was absolutely delicious though.

I’m hoping to go for a short run when I get home this evening. It’s blistering hot again, so I’ll be waiting until around 7. I’ve missed running this week! I absolutely hate not being able to run. It makes me even more miserable.

Have a great afternoon!

Food, Glorious Food

8 Oct

My appetite is back! Woo hoo! So what’s the first thing I craved? Sweet potato fries!

Quick spray of I Cant Believe Its Not Butter and a sprinkle of cinnamon sugar. Delicious! And I’ve spent today sipping on green tea and…

Diet cranberry Ginger ale. Pure awesomeness. Time for Tylenol PM and bed. Oh and can’t forget my Tamiflu!

(forgive me, I’m getting bored so I’m taking pictures of EVERYTHING!)
