Contemplation…

30 Nov

It hasn’t even been a week since my first,Β and I’m already contemplating my second half marathon.

The Jacksonville Bank 1/2 Marathon is December 20. If my IT band is feeling better by then, I definitely think I’ll do it. I’m going to wait until at least this weekend before I bring it up to the Hubs (cause he already thinks I’m insane).

30 Day Shred December Challenge

28 Nov

This idea originally started as an agreement with a co-worker. We decided that we’d try to negate all our crappy holiday eating by doing Jillian Michaels’ 30 Day Shred 5 days a week throughout December. Now, we all know that the Shred can kick. our. asses. And after doing nothing but running for the past two months, I could use a change of pace. So the 30 Day Shred December Challenge was born:

Challenge Details:

  1. Do the Shred 5 days per week
  2. Eat clean with one cheat meal per week
  3. Alter one favorite Holiday recipe to be “clean”
  4. Brag about your results

Pretty simple, eh? I’ll be checking in daily and I’ll post before and after pictures at the end of the Challenge. At the end of the challenge, e-mail me your before and afters, and I will gladly post them. I will pick a winner at random from those that e-mail me pics. The winner will receive a prize (I just haven’t decided what… Maybe a Whole Foods gift card?).

Who’s with me?!

Rivalry Weekend

28 Nov

It’s Rivalry Weekend already! In case ya didn’t know, I am a die-hard Florida State fan. Actually, I graduated from FSU in 2007. And the Hubs? Well, he graduated from the University of Florida in 2006…. and he comes from a long line of Gator fans. And Florida vs. Florida State is only one of the biggest rivalries in college football.

Uh oh. We all know what that means:

I am surrounded by Gators. I’m rockin’ my FSU paraphernalia in support of the garnet n’ gold !

Let’s go Seminoles!

P.S. – I hope my kid turns out like this:

Outback Distance Classic Half Marathon Report

28 Nov

Even though it’s been a few days, I still cannot believe I did it! I am a half-marathoner πŸ™‚

All my stuff ready the night before:

The morning started out pretty cool out. I was terrified it would be warm and rainy, but it was neither. The Hubs and I got to the race about 45 minutes before start time, and I was shaking with nerves from the moment I got out of bed.

I saw the Hubs somewhere between mile 7 and 8 (I think). I had him give me some Tylenol, and he snapped this pic as I ran by:

Around mile 9, my IT band/left knee just couldn’t take it anymore and I had to implement walk breaks. I ran for 4 minutes and walked for 1 minute for pretty much the rest of the race. It was painful, but I knew I was close. Turning the bend for the finish line:

And after crossing the finish:

And my finisher’s medal:

I still cannot believe I actually did it. It’s weird. And I was extremely disappointed to find they were out of beer by the time I finished. 😦 I was really looking forward to that beer.

I can’t wait for the professional pictures to go up, so I can post them. I want to buy the one of me crossing the finish line and put it in a shadow box with my medal and number.

If I can get my IT band issues straightened out, I’m contemplating doing the Jax Bank Half-Marathon in December. We’ll see πŸ™‚

Wishlist Wednesday: Armless Chair Edition

25 Nov

For the past few months, I’ve been lusting after getting a fantastic armless upholstered chair for our bedroom. Currently, I really love this one from Target:

We have this beautiful duvet set from Pottery Barn:

And I would love to do a pale blue sheet set to complement the chair. What do you think?
