I had a hot food blogger date with Dawn from Florida Coastal Cooking today. I was so excited when Ashlee introduced us because Dawn is a fellow FSU Alum! Jacksonville is very much in the “Gator Nation” (I hate that term. The “Gator Nation” would be a jorts wearing, mullet sporting, third world country, in my opinion), and finding fellow ‘Noles is always good thing!
We tried out Lemongrass, a Thai Restaurant. Lemongrass is actually owned by the same people as Thai Room, and so I had some lofty expectations going into the restaurant. I got a little scared when I walked in at 1:30 and it was practically empty. Being in a restaurant all by yourself can be a little unnerving.
Thankfully, Dawn showed up a few minutes later and we quickly got to chatting. We ordered some fresh spring rolls to start:
I felt like such a food blogging failure when I whipped out my camera and the batteries were dead. Fail! Thankfully, I always have my iPhone around to function as a backup. The spring rolls were crunchy and the vegetables tasted very fresh. It was nice to step outside the fried spring/egg roll box. Also, the peanut sauce complimented the veggies perfectly! But then again, you can put peanut sauce on pretty much anything and I’ll like it 😉
I know I talk all the time about my love affairs with specific foods, but seriously, I love pad thai.
The flavor was absolutely amazing, but I wish it had a little more veggies in it. If I threw in some julienne carrots and broccoli, it would’ve been perfection on a plate.
Overall, the Lemongrass was very appetizing. I’ll definitely keep it on my list of close-to-work lunch spots!
Oh, that food looks delsh! I feel your pain… I live in the “Saban Nation” as an Auburn fan…. and hubs is a member of the Nick fan club…. UGH!
Yay for new friends and Lemongrass!
I am so bummed I missed this! I didn’t realize you guys were doing lunch or I would have been there. Next week? 🙂
