Bowing to Worship the Pioneer Woman

25 Nov

It’s no secret that I love chocolate. Nor is it a secret that I love cake. So, of course I love chocolate cake. Simple math, folks! And I love any cake recipe that involves 4 sticks of butter and 8 “heaping tablespoons” of cocoa. Can we say “yum”? All together now…. YUM!

When I came across the Pioneer Woman’s Best Chocolate Sheet Cake EVER recipe, I knew I had to make it as soon as possible.
Quick Run-Down of the Ingredients:

CAKE Ingredients (I love that she has to specify):

  • 2 cups Flour
  • 2 cups Sugar
  • ¼ teaspoons Salt
  • 4 Tablespoons (heaping) Cocoa
  • 2 sticks Butter
  • 1 cup Boiling Water
  • ½ cups Buttermilk
  • 2 whole Beaten Eggs
  • 1 teaspoon Baking Soda
  • 1 teaspoon Vanilla

FOR FROSTING:

  • ½ cups Finely Chopped Pecans
  • 1-¾ stick Butter
  • 4 Tablespoons (heaping) Cocoa
  • 6 Tablespoons Milk
  • 1 teaspoon Vanilla
  • 1 pound (minus 1/2 Cup) Powdered Sugar (this woman is after my heart)

Here we are, all ready to go:

Mmm… Melted butter…

Flour and sugar mixture… Notice I used whole wheat flour in a feeble attempt to make this a little healthier (why do I even kid myself?)…

And this is the point where my camera started to die. I decided to save what battery juice I had left for the final picture:

Mmm… Warm, delicious, cakey goodness. Thank you, Pioneer Woman, thank you.
