I’m Back!

30 Jul

After a quick little hiatus, I’m back to the blogging world. I spend Monday and Tuesday in Jacksonville helping my mom paint her new house. Let me tell you, painting is a WORK OUT. My shoulders and arms were so tired after two days. When I got home, all I wanted to do was take a nice, long, hot bath. I kept reminding my mom that I’m going to remember this for when I buy a house.

We also got to go to Target. I didn’t buy a single thing. I’m so proud of myself. I used to be such a compulsive shopper, but being unemployed has definitely helped curb my spending. I feel like rewarding myself for my financial responsibility. I might just blow $15 on these fantastic shoes from Wet Seal for the boudoir session in August:

You can’t tell in the picture, but the heel is so tall! It’s easily 4+ inches. I’m short, and I definitely need something to make my legs look longer.

Speaking of the boudoir shoot, I’ll be doing my own hair. So whatever I choose, it needs to be easy. I’m thinking something like this:

I’ll have to do a few practice runs to make sure I can do it. Shouldn’t be too hard though. I might even buy those silly little Bump-its to give my hair some extra oomph in the back. I’m wondering if they actually work and if they’re uncomfortable. Opinions?

While in Jacksonville, I also got to spend the evening with some fabulous ladies during book club! The book we discussed was The Book Thief.

I wasn’t sure I was going to like this book, as I’m a die-hard chick-lit fan. I was surprised by it. The first half went fairly slow, but the second half flew by. It was a great example of historical fiction. I learned a lot about Nazi Germany. It had a very interesting perspective on that lifestyle. It was nice having some girl time. I can’t wait to move to Jacksonville so I can host book club.

I ate horribly while I was gone too: KFC (Grilled Chicken) AND TACO BELL (Chicken soft tacos)! Nothing fried, but still. Even grilled at those places is awful. Not going the lie: it was so tasty. I was really impressed with KFC’s grilled chicken. I got the BBQ grilled chicken fill up box. It came with a breast and wing, corn on the cob (or a side of your choice), a biscuit, and a drink (which we all know I got a Diet Pepsi). So tasty! Want to try some? Here’s some KFC coupons.

I also ate cookies and candy because my mother’s house is always stocked with goodies. I was pretty bloated when I came home. I spent yesterday chugging water and eating clean in an effort to cleanse myself.

Last night I decided I needed to suck it up and start running outside again. I ran my 2.81 mile loop around the neighborhood. It was definitely different. I started out nice and easy. Then towards the end, I met back up with my hubby. I still had some energy left, so I picked up the pace. I felt strong, but my legs feel a little sore today. Running on the treadmill is very different from running on the pavement. I miss running outside though. I tend to throw on my headphones and zone out outside. On the treadmill, I’m checking the time and distance every 30 seconds. It was nice NOT knowing exactly how many seconds I’d been running the entire time. Several minutes at a time would pass without checking my watch. Which brings me to today’s question:

How often do you look at your watch/clock during a run or cardio session?

I'm just like you about obsessively checking the time if I'm at the gym on a machine. But when I'm outside I don't even wear a watch. I'm still in the stage where I'm just happy to complete my route, so I'm not too focused on time right now.

I'm impressed you ran outside though, it is so freakin hot.

    Hey girlie!
You should definatley try BFL but I dunno how doable it is while trying to train for a run cause you get sore every other day from lifting.
I used a small Bump-it in my hair for my friend's wedding and it was pretty awesome. You should try it. Mine was probably the smallest one possible cause I used it for the bump on top of the head…ugh, I can't really explain it.
Anyway, I'm sure you will look beautiful!

Wow. I am impressed, I am not sure if I have ever been in Target and bought nothing.

Love the hairstyle, it will look good on you. You can probably do it with rollers or a fat curling iron, and hairspray. I think those bump it things are pretty unnecessary.

Amen, painting is a workout! I've been doing it for the last month and it is hard.

I want to know more about the boudoir pictures. What made you decide to do this? What will you wear? How much are you going to show? Where will you display the pictures?

    Those shoes are fabulous!

Good for you for getting back to outdoor running! You're right- it's so different than the treadmill. I rarely look at the time when I'm running outside. I usually check at every mile though to see what my splits are.

When I run at the gym on the treadmill, I cannot help but stare at the clock! It's gotten so bad that I have to put a shirt over it or something…I feel like time just drags on sometimes! I've never heard of budoir pictures…but I love those shoes!
